I have really mixed feelings about EUR, a part of Rome designed and built during the fascistic regime. When you enter it after the chaotic narrow streets of the eternal city you get the feeling of liberty thanks to the very large avenues and geometric urban design. But just after few minutes there I get anxiety feelings. The design of the streets is so perfect, the buildings are uniform and symmetrical, and the super controlled urban landscape seems to me a ideal metaphor of the regime. Seemingly perfect and utterly controlled life. 

Ho veramente sentimenti contrastanti su EUR, una parte di Roma ideata e edificata durante il regime fascista. Quando entri la zona, dopo le strade strette e caotiche della città eterna, finalmente senti la libertà grazie ai larghi viali e un disegno urbano molto geometrico. Ma dopo qualche minuto non mi sento più al mio agio. Il disegno delle strade e troppo perfetto, gli edifici sono uniformi e simmetrici, e la panorama altamente controllata sembra essere una perfetta metafora del regime. La vita apparentemente perfetta e iper controllata.
